Does OptionsApp need to run continuously?

Updated: May 11, 20251 min read

We recommend keeping OptionsApp running continuously during active trading hours, but it's not mandatory. What's important is that the app is active when opening a trade. During the opening process, not only are orders placed, but all defined Profit and Loss Actions such as Stop Loss are also set.

Once a trade is fully executed and registered in OptionsApp, the app can be closed. The trade including Stop Loss and Take Profit is stored with the broker (TWS) and remains active and valid even without OptionsApp running.

Important: When the app is closed, no new trades can be opened, even if they were previously scheduled.

Note: Outside of trading hours, such as at night or on weekends, OptionsApp can of course be closed, since no trade executions take place during those times anyway.
