Can you use OptionsApp and TAT in parallel?

Updated: May 15, 20251 min read

Running TAT (Trade Automation Toolbox) and OptionsApp simultaneously is technically possible, even though we haven't comprehensively tested this specific use case yet. There's nothing technically preventing it, as long as the connection to the respective TWS instances is set up correctly.

To run both tools stably and independently of each other, you should:

  • Start two separate TWS instances (e.g., one for TAT, one for OptionsApp).
  • Configure different API ports in the respective TWS and tool settings.

Example:

  • TWS for TAT: Port 7496
  • TWS for OptionsApp: Port 7497

Make sure the ports in each application (TAT or OptionsApp) match those of the associated TWS.

What we advise against

TAT and OptionsApp should not be connected to the same TWS instance. Especially if both programs work with the same Underlyings, Orders and position data can overlap. This can lead to unexpected behavior or issues with Order execution.

Conclusion

As long as TAT and OptionsApp run with separate TWS instances and correct ports, parallel operation, even on the same PC or server, works without any problems.
