Can you use Paper Trading and Live Trading in parallel?

Yes, that's no problem at all. To do this, you need to start OptionsApp twice and select a different Session for each. Each Session contains the information for connecting to TWS, these are configured in OptionsApp under Settings. It's important that you use different ports for both Sessions. These can be configured in OptionsApp under Settings > TWS Connection.

Typically:

  • Live Account: Port 7496
  • Paper Account: Port 7497

Additionally, you also need to run two separate TWS instances with these respective ports.

A subscription with a sufficient number of parallel Sessions is required, currently all subscription tiers support two parallel Sessions simultaneously, regardless of device or server.
