Download & Installation of OptionsApp

1. General Requirements

Before installing a new version, make sure OptionsApp is completely closed. A running instance will prevent the installation and result in an error message. In this case, an error message would appear:

If you encounter problems during installation, we recommend a complete restart of your operating system and then repeating the installation process.

2. Download via the User Portal

You can download the latest version of OptionsApp at any time from the user portal. After logging in, you'll find the available downloads under the "Software Versions" section:

Installer version (recommended)
ZIP variant (Alternative, e.g. for Windows Server 2025)
Matching TWS version

3. Standard Installation via Installer

For most users, installing via the EXE installer file is the easiest way:

Download the installation file from the user portal.
Double-click the file and follow the installation instructions.
Select the suggested default path.
The existing installation can be overwritten; prior uninstallation is not necessary.
Important: OptionsApp must not be open during this process.

4. Alternative Installation via ZIP File

If installation with the installer doesn't work (e.g. for Windows Server 2025 or future operating systems), you can use the ZIP file:

Download the ZIP file.
Extract it to any location (e.g. Desktop or C:\OptionsApp).
Open the extracted folder and run the OptionsApp.exe file.
Optionally create a shortcut on your desktop for faster access to the app in the future.

The ZIP variant is technically identical but does not install start menu shortcuts or registry entries. This causes no disadvantages when using the application.

5. Installation of the Matching TWS Version

A matching TWS Stable version is provided with each OptionsApp version. This is mandatory to ensure compatibility. This is a version that does not auto-update, so the API connections remain stable and error-free communication with OptionsApp is guaranteed.

In the software overview in the user portal, you'll find a link to the release notes to view all changes and new features of the current version.
